Places to See as a Truck Driver
90% of the time trucking is kind of boring. We see a lot of the same interstate during our long hours of driving. Have you thought about getting out of the truck and looking around?
Resetting your hours while on the road is a great time to rent a car or grab an Uber and do a little sightseeing. If you’re near any of the following places, take advantage of your nomadic job, and get out and explore. Most people don’t get this opportunity in their 9 to 5.
Dinosaurs
If you’re travelling through Alberta and are fortunate enough to go through Drumheller – stop at the Royal Tyrrell Museum. It’s a pretty amazing museum with lots of exhibits. There’s also a tourist info stop with a giant dinosaur. It’s a neat place to stop and a nice little town.
Carhenge
It’s probably the coolest in Alliance, Nebraska. Carhenge is exactly what it sounds like – a recreation of Stonehenge made from 39 vintage American cars. Additional sculptures have been erected at the site, known as the Car Art Reserve. One of the first sculptures to be added to the Car Art Reserve is a sculpture of a spawning salmon created by 29-year-old Canadian Geoff Sandhurst
Gateway Arch
St.Louis is a great place to reset HOS. Rent a car and there’s tons of stuff to do. Definitely check out the Arch while you’re there https://www.gatewayarch.com/.
It features a 70,000 square foot visitors center and an observation area that can hold 160 people. It’s one of those famous monuments that everyone should visit.
Devils Tower
Located in the northeast corner of Wyoming, Devils Tower stands more than 5,000 feet above sea level.
“The Tower is an astounding geologic feature that protrudes out of the prairie surrounding the Black Hills. It is considered sacred by Northern Plains Indians and indigenous people. Hundreds of parallel cracks make it one of the finest crack climbing areas in North America.”
Grand Prismatic Spring
Located just off Hwy 191 in Yellowstone National Park. It’s the largest hot spring in the United States and it’s breathtakingly beautiful.
