It doesn’t matter if you are moving freight or just driving for your 10 hour work day, being a truck driver can leave you with a lot of aches and pains. A common ailment for truck drivers is achy knees.
There are a lot of factors that can create knee pain (inactivity, carrying too much body weight, poor posture and more) but there are some things you can do to help alleviate the pain without relying on pain relief pills.
The exact source of your knee pain isn’t always obvious. Multiple muscles overlap the knee joint (your calf, thigh, hamstrings, and quadriceps etc.) to work together to flex, stabilize and extend the knee. If you suffer from knee pain, stretching these muscles can help alleviate the pain and strengthen the muscles around the knee. Check out these stretches, just keep in mind that you may not have the same mobility, so don’t push it. You should be able to feel the muscle stretching, but if it is painful – stop. You don’t want to injure yourself further. It is always best to consult your doctor for more precise diagnosis and treatment.
