Jason Dubois of Len Dubois Trucking has accepted the challenge of raising $50,000 for STARS Air Ambulance by participating in “STARS RESCUE ON THE ISLAND”. As a part of his goal Jason hopes to build upon his relationships and partnerships with others in the trucking industry and business community to help promote and educate people about the services offered by Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) Air Ambulance.
STARS Air Ambulance Across the Prairies
In the prairies it is often truck drivers who are among the first to respond at the scene of an accident. According to Erin Sharp, Director of New Initiatives for the STARS Foundation, truck drivers are an important link in the chain of first responders. “Drivers are on the road all the time,” says Sharp. “They can be our eyes and ears and are often the ones calling 911, calling in road reports, setting up pylons and stopping to help people that are in need of assistance.”
- STARS has conducted 487 semi truck related missions across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba from 2004 to 2014.
- This year alone STARS Manitoba has flown over 302 missions, more than tripling the amount of missions conducted in 2014.

STARS will use the funds raised by Rescue on the Island to:
- Provide ongoing specialized emergency medical training for STARS doctors, nurses and paramedics.
- Acquire the latest sophisticated medical equipment inside the helicopter’s intensive care unit environment.
- Fund landing zone training for emergency services. This training, primarily in rural areas, increases safety for the public, patients and other emergency responders.
