Owning your own truck and running your own business as an owner operator adds a lot of responsibilities to driving truck. It kinda means no days off because even when your not running down the road you’re dealing with the business side.
One of those business things is regular and preventive maintenance. Regular maintenance is crucial for trucking company’s and owner operators. Your truck is the money maker and regular maintenance will reduce costly down time, reduce repair costs, increases safety and reduces the chances of a violation. Preventive maintenance is just good business.
We have our own preventive maintenance program for all of our company trucks which we recommend for all of our owner operators. Plus our owner operators receive a reduced shop rate should they choose to run their maintenance through our shop.
Preventive Maintenance
Company trucks receive a pre-trip inspection in the shop at the end of every trip, which include, wash, filling of all fluids, tires checked and adjusted, check all lighting, check fan belts, check drive line. It is a good idea for owner operators to give their truck a thorough inspection after each trip and take care of problems before the next trip.
