Arizona sheriff warns drivers of I-10 rest stop robbery schemes – “On February 6, 2025, CCSO issued a release asking for help identifying suspects involved in robberies that took place at a rest stop off of I-10 near San Simon, Arizona, in February 2024.”
CVSA’s out-of-service criteria: New for 2025 – “The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has consulted its membership from all around North America and come up with some tweaks to the out-of-service criteria for drivers and vehicles set to go into effect on April 1, 2025. ”
ATRI Releases 2025 Top 100 Truck Bottlenecks List – “The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) has published its 14th annual Top 100 Truck Bottlenecks report, highlighting the most congested locations for freight movement across the country.”
Surveys find driver stress directly impacts road safety – “According to the report, “The ripple effects of driver stress on road safety and the bottom line,” 68% of drivers said work-related stress negatively impacts their performance, and 78% believe stress and mental health contribute to road dangers.”
New Jersey home to worst freight traffic in the U.S. for seventh year in a row – “Based on an extensive database of freight truck GPS data, ATRI’s 2025 Top Truck Bottleneck List measures the level of truck-involved congestion at more than 325 locations on the national highway system, and uses several customized software applications and analysis methods, along with terabytes of data from trucking operations, to produce a congestion impact ranking for each location.”
Truck Parking
Truck stop closed in 2010 rebrands to new 24/7 Talent Travel Center – “The Talent Travel Center in Talent, Oregon is located off of Interstate 5 at Exit 21 on West Valley View Road. It operated as the Talent Truck Stop before closing in 2010, but reopened with limited semi truck fueling services again in 2018. Now, the location is working on renovating and reopening the semi truck park of the truck stop.”
Another rebuilt rest area on New York State Thruway opens Upstate – “The New York State Thruway Authority recently announced the reopening of the new Mohawk Service Area located on Interstate 90 eastbound between exit 27 (Amsterdam – NY Route 30) and exit 26 (Schenectady – Scotia – I-890 – NY Routes 5 & 5S) in Montgomery County.”
Truck Drivers Slow to Adopt Parking Apps, Study Finds – “A new federal study has found that despite the ongoing truck parking crisis, many truck drivers are not using parking management apps that could help them find available parking spaces more efficiently. Conducted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute on behalf of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the study focused on Interstate 80 and Interstate 94 corridors in Iowa and Wisconsin, where truck parking shortages are well-documented.”
Semi truck parking closed at Turner Turnpike service plaza through early 2026 – “Turnpike officials announced that starting Thursday, February 27, all commercial truck parking is closed at the westbound I-44/Turner Turnpike service plaza at Stroud (mile marker 179).”
