Lack of Truck Parking Costs $100B a Year, Report Finds – “Insufficient truck parking is resulting in $100 billion yearly in lost productivity, according to a new report.”
New report examines truck parking shorage’s cost to trucking – “Truck drivers need 2.4 million parking spots suitable for rest across the U.S. highway system, the study found, yet there are only 697,000 spots available to them.”
Michigan DOT to close I-75 rest area until May 2026 for $3.9 million in improvements – “The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will shutter an I-75 rest area for upgrades.”
Ohio to Add 1,400 Long-term Truck Parking Spots – “Ohio is stepping up to help truck drivers by adding 1,400 new long-term parking spaces across the state. Governor Mike DeWine recently announced the plan, which will build new parking areas at 33 locations in 18 counties. The goal is to make Ohio the #1 state in the nation for public truck parking.”
First-ever Wawa Travel Center to open in North Carolina this month with free truck parking, CAT Scale – “Wawa called the opening of the first-ever travel center an “historic milestone” in company history.”

Colorado’s commercial vehicle chain law goes into effect – “Commercial vehicle drivers passing through Colorado will need to start carrying chains as the state’s chain law goes into effect.”
Caltrans breaks ground on new scale facility on I-80 capable of inspecting 1,000 trucks per hour – “California transportation officials recently kicked off a construction project to build a new “state of the art” truck scales facility in Cordelia.”
CVSA calls for a maximum limit on use of personal conveyance by truck drivers – “The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) recently told Congress that there should be more restrictions on the use of personal conveyance by commercial vehicle drivers following a rise in “abuse and misuse” of the provision.”
Michigan lawmakers advance bill banning big rigs from the left lane – “A bill that seeks to curb traffic by keeping semi trucks out of the left lane is moving forward in the Michigan House of Representatives.”
